Reduce Return Loss Costs by 95% With "Return" Recording Function.

August 23, 2024

In the online shopping industry, the number of companies offering free returns is increasing. C-commerce is providing free return options for products or free return benefits on the first order as part of its aggressive expansion strategy. Similarly, e-commerce companies are also offering free return services to become the main shopping platform chosen by consumers.

Free returns are essentially a double-edged sword for companies. As the number of returns increases, the profitability of the company also deteriorates. When returns occur due to a change of mind by the customer or sizing issues, even if the product is undamaged, a lot of costs are incurred during the process of making it resealable, including logistics costs, labor costs, and others.

What is more, there has been an increase in return fraud cases, such as requesting a return for damaged products or requesting a refund after sending an empty box following a claim of lost items. As a result, more companies are facing significant financial losses. To manage this, businesses in various sectors, including clothing, jewelry, food, and cross-border e-commerce, are turning to Realpacking.

Realpacking reduces return loss costs while improving quality.

If you work in the industry, you’ve likely encountered these return cases hundreds of times. Without handling returns based on accurate evidence, losses are inevitable. That's because, in addition to refunds, there are additional expenses incurred during the process of making the returned product resealable.

Realpacking records the condition of products on video upon return, increasing transparency in the logistics process and clarifying responsibility in return-related claims. This serves as important evidence for addressing future customer claims dealing with return fraud.

Without Realpacking, it is virtually impossible to accurately determine where the responsibility lies, leaving the company to bear the full cost of the loss. Additionally, inadequate handling of such situations can lead to decreased customer satisfaction. To address these issues, many companies have adopted Realpacking to manage return cases.

Making full use of Realpacking on the return line!
💡 Log in to Realpacking Web Admin → Settings → Worker Accounts → Recording Type → Return

To use the 'Return' feature of Realpacking, you need to select the 'Return Type' for the worker account that will be handling the recording. This can be easily set in the Web Admin and is available for immediate use.

💡 Log in to the Realpacking Recorder → Scan the return invoice (recording automatically starts) → Scan the returned products → Scan the return invoice again (recording automatically stops)

The Realpacking 'Return' recording type automatically starts recording when the return invoice is scanned. When scanning the contents, data (which products were returned and in what quantities) and video (what condition they were in when returned) are recorded together.

💡 Log in to Web Admin → Videos → Video List → Manage Returns

The recorded Realpacking videos can be reviewed in real-time through the Web Admin. Additionally, if a customer inquiry arises related to a return, you can quickly search for the video using the invoice number and send it immediately.

This is particularly useful when the logistics and operations departments are located in different buildings. When a customer service inquiry is received, the operations team can directly check if the return has been properly received using the Realpacking video and data, without needing to separately confirm with the logistics department. This also allows the logistics team to save time by reducing the need to check each return individually.

In particular, the Realpacking 'Return' recording type feature can also be used for quality control. For instance, when beauty company 'B' noticed an increase in return recordings, they investigated the cause and discovered an issue with the lid attachment of a pad product, which they then improved. In this case, the Realpacking 'Return' feature allowed for cause identification and quality improvement based on data.
